I NEED TO DO

The premise of this performance, however, is the reordering of priorities between Kocagoncu’s beauty-related activities, such as bleaching hair, and their professional practice as Age 40: During the five work days of the performance, whenever Kocagoncu remembers some beauty-related work they need to do, they are to immediately start working on it.
EINTD is a consideration of the aesthetics of background processes. In the performance, the artist is on display, but does not perform. The remnants of their activities are also displayed, but without being properly composed. The process overlays observations on the aesthetics of performance with the norms to which women acquiesce. Through the metaphor of beauty, the work renders a commentary on the paralyzing nature of our obsolete notions surrounding institutional art.
